Just as an airport tower manages multiple planes landing and taking off on different runways, our brains have a set of mental skills that help us manage our functioning in the world. Executive Functioning (EF) is like the brain’s air traffic control system, the set of skills that helps you plan, prioritize, manage time use, pursue goals, regulate emotions, and adapt to life changes. When responsibilities pile up, or you’re navigating transitions, these skills can feel stretched, leaving highly capable people feeling overwhelmed or off balance.
