About Justice Necessary
At the peak of the 2020 pandemic, Diane Cushman Neal realized that if kids weren’t in school, free breakfasts or lunches weren’t being offered to those families that truly needed it. Diane reached out to a local food pantry to see how she could help families get the food they needed. To her surprise, she discovered Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) don’t support the purchase of hygiene products. Not only were families struggling to get food, but individuals were struggling to get period products and basic hygiene products. Diane’s focus quickly shifted, and she started to address hygiene poverty in Colorado communities by founding Justice Necessary. Since its inception, Justice Necessary has donated more than 4.2 million organic and sustainable period products, more than 158,000 diaper wipes, and more than 244,000 hygiene products.
What will we be doing to help?
During this free event, we will be packing bags of period and hygiene products that will be distributed to schools and districts for students in need!
