Join Lotus Network for a Mid-Century Architecture Meander!
Join us on June 14th at 9 AM for a 1.5 to 2-hour walk through Arapahoe Acres.
Arapahoe Acres is like an active museum of mid-century design developed by talented architect and builder Edward Hawkins between 1949 and 1957.
We will learn about Hawkins and the first mid-century neighborhood in the country to be added to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). Life magazine featured Arapahoe Acres in “Best Houses under $15,000; Eight fine, mass-produced examples show buyers what they can get in low-priced homes.”
Learn more about Broadway, the city of Englewood, and some of the local nearby parks.
We will meet at Keith’s Coffee Bar, 2450 S Downing Street, Denver, CO 80210. Street parking is available.
Lisa Alonge of Denver By Foot will be our walking movement leader.
We will walk approximately 2.25 miles. The neighborhood is bounded by East Bates, East Dartmouth Avenues, South Marion, & South Franklin Streets in Englewood. We start with a half mile from the coffee shop to the start at S Marion & E Bates. We will pass the Harvard Gulch mini park and learn about the gulch.
More detailed parking and meeting information will be included in your receipt.
